Brown calfskin, tooled in gold and blind with three Italianate tools: a pair of circles, a leaf tool, arms of Cardinal Francesco Soderini (1453–1524) in circle, in centre, and corners. One of a group of bindings associated with the introduction of gold tooling from Italy to France.
