The Highlands. Wick Wyke in the north, Badenoch …nagh in the south; plaga de baunagh in the cartouche refers to the lordship of Badenoch. The numerous comitata refer not to counties in the modern way but to earldoms proper. The carefully-drawn castle is Kildrummy kildromy; Cowie Colly, Inverbervie enderburi. The Hebrides off the west coast, the largest, with the legend Lez Outrslez, is probably Mull. There is a wolf in the hills of Sutherland Sotherland, a deer in Gaick Forest Colgarth.
